University Place sits up on the bluff west of Tacoma, and the water-view lots that make it desirable are the same ones that make moving day a little more technical. Streets near Chambers Bay and along the bluff can be narrower than they look on a map, with steep driveways and limited turnaround room — we scout the approach before the truck ever leaves our lot, usually with a quick look at satellite imagery and a call to confirm what we’re seeing.
Most of University Place is single-family homes, quieter and more residential than the busier parts of Tacoma, which generally makes for a calmer move day: fewer permit issues, more predictable parking, and neighbors who mostly just wave instead of asking questions. The trade-off is that a bluff-top lot sometimes means stairs from the street to the front door, so we bring the right equipment rather than finding out mid-move that we need it.
A lot of our University Place clients are downsizing after years in the same house, often near retirement, and that changes the job — more careful sorting, sometimes a storage stop between the old place and the new one. We treat that pace differently than a young family’s move across town.
